I cannot put into words how proud I am of the year 10 girl's athletics squad. Their season started on 4th May where they competed in the Lee Valley outdoor athletics cup. The girls blew me away with their performances with Kelly winning with Javelin, setting a new PB. Princess winning the 100m, Divine winning the 200m, Abbie winning the 300m, setting a new Lee Valley record and Kelly, Divine, Princess and Amya winning the relay, setting a new school record. The girls come away as Lee Valley champions having wiped the floor with their competition.
The second competition of the season was the first round of the English Schools track and field cup. Divine Joseph won the girls 200m and triple jump with a pb and setting a new school record for both events. Abbie Dowdye won the 300m setting a new school record, Kelly won the javelin setting another new pb, Princess won 100m and set a pb in high jump. A special mention must also go to Amarachi and Aimuavbosa who threw the Hammer and discus for the first time competitively at this event and performed outstandingly and to Esther for her efforts at this competition in the discus.
The most recent competition for the year 10 girls has been the Borough Athletics Competition. The girls faced some tough competition but once again come away victorious winning the title of borough champions. A special mention must go to Sarah and Keisha who both competed for the first time at this competition in high jump and 1500m and performed fantastically.
Well done to all of the girls involved I am extremely proud of you. I can not wait to see how far this year group can go and am looking forward to seeing more records broken in our future competitions.
