For the second year running, we were delighted to take four budding Year 10 writers to Hay-on-Wye to attend the Hay Literary Festival, and to stay at Trewern Outdoor Education Centre.
The Year 10 students spent the weekend reading, writing and bonding with other secondary-school students from local schools from the borough.
Like last year, students enjoyed some incredible experiences in the stunning Welsh countryside, including gorge walking and cascading down waterfalls, as well as exploring a breathtaking mountainside at sunset. The students also worked on crafting their creative writing by attending author workshops, exploring Hay village and writing in the serene grounds of Trewern Outdoor Education Centre.
The day at the Hay festival saw students listen to lectures and workshops by writers including Laura Dockrill, Dr Shini Somara and Nikesh Shukla to inspire their own writing. This year, we were also very lucky to have an exclusive tour of the festival to see the inner-workings of this famous literary feat!
Robert Clack School would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the dynamic team at Pen-to Print and Barking and Dagenham Council, and Justin and his staff at Trewern for organising such a superb and inspiring trip.
