Green Shoes Arts has teamed up with Valence House Museum to curate a new exhibition celebrating the works of Henry Gillard Glindoni, a notable artist who lived and worked in Dagenham during the late 19th century. This exciting showcase will feature a significant number of Glindoni's pieces, with contributions from both Valence House’s collection and loans from galleries and museums across the country. The collaboration aims to raise awareness of this important local artist and to foster a deeper connection between the community and the museum.
A key focus of the exhibition is engaging young people. In line with this goal, Green Shoes Arts recently conducted a workshop with Year 10 photography students as part of the "Beyond the Easel" project. The workshop introduced students to the art of cyanotypes, a photographic process that creates images without a camera. This hands-on experience allowed students to explore the creative potential of this unique technique, resulting in enthusiastic participation and enjoyment as they crafted their own cyanotypes. The initiative not only provided an educational and enjoyable activity for our students but also sparked an interest in the historical and artistic significance of Glindoni's work.
Here are some pictures from the trip.
