On Friday 11th February, Robert Clack School hosted Cllr Rodwell (Leader of Barking and Dagenham Council). He met with pupils to discuss climate change and the challenges facing all of us. We were also delighted to welcome Rob Jones, a former pupil, back to Robert Clack who is now working in the LBBD Leadership Office. Please see below the email that he sent after the visit:
"I wanted to pass on our gratitude for hosting our visit today. The students we met with were a credit to the school and our borough. Their obvious passion for tackling climate change is just one example of why young people are our best asset in making the world a better place. They demonstrated an innate understanding of the fact that climate change is as much a social justice issue as it is a practical one. This was a testament to Robert Clack and its ethos of ensuring young people are given the tools they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
Please send our thanks to both the students and staff who we met with. As discussed with the school council, the council runs a community clean-up programme which we would love to see Clack participate in. Further details can be found here.
If we can help with anything else related to the school, including perhaps a visit to the Town Hall, please let me know."
Thank you to all of the staff who helped organise the visit and well done to the pupils involved!
