On Tuesday 9th May, 8 students performed at the Inspiring Futures Launch Event at Studio 3 Arts, Barking. This event was part of a launch for a new toolkit that was created by teachers within the borough, showcasing how creativity is so important for each and every individual and how creative arts takes place within schools.
There were live performances from Eastbury Community School who had a student perform sign language alongside a video of how disabilities are perceived within schools and Ripple Primary School performed with percussion instruments as the entrance to the event.
Robert Clack School performed twice. Scarlett and Amy in year 8 performed their piece "To Build a Home" which was a part of our Dance Show at the Broadway Theatre in Barking in 2023. Scarlett and Amy were successful in winning the choreography competition and therefore got selected to perform at this event. Their piece was about 2 individuals needing each other when they don’t even realise, through the trials and tribulations of grief.
From year 12, we had Rose, Imisi, Medina, Adesewa and Iyobosa perform their choreography competition entry called "Instruction". This commercial, street dance piece was one of entertainment and joy. These students were selected to perform at this event after having a very successful choreography entry every single year and have won every competition to date.
The students' performances were incredible and of such a high standard, we now look forward to our Summer Dance Showcase on Wednesday 12th July, where you will be able to see more performances similar to the ones performed at this event. Well done to all those involved.
