Former Robert Clack pupil, professional footballer and soccer pundit Aaron McLean was back at school today to meet Year 9 students from Lymington and Green Lane. First of all, Aaron met with Harry who is interested in a career in commentating and punditry. Harry was delighted to speak to Aaron for half an hour about his football career and also how he got his opportunity with Sky Sports/BT Sports.
Then a small group from Green Lane and Lymington spent some time with Aaron and quizzed him on his football career mainly. Questions included how he combined his school work with his academy spot with Chelsea and what his favourite goal was during his career.
The students were chosen by their Heads of Year and the visit was arranged as part of the Achieve Excellence Programme via the Learning Mentors.
Aaron stressed the importance of hard work and practice and also the importance of education.
Thank you to Aaron for giving up your time and being so open and honest with the students.
