The Performance
Earlier this term, a group of Year 7 pupils enjoyed a trip to The Globe Theatre in London to watch a performance of The Tempest. The Tempest was an excellent trip. Although the journey to and from London was long, when we got there it was magical – it felt like I was a part of the performance too!
The performance was fun, exciting and entertaining. My favourite part of the play was the comedic scene with Caliban! Also, the costumes were outstanding, especially Ariel’s fairy costume. The actor’s costumes were very detailed and matched the character’s personality. Each actor was incredibly talented and created an enjoyable experience as they truly made Shakespeare’s classic story come to life!
The Workshop
A few weeks later, a trained actor from The Globe Theatre visited Robert Clack School to provide a workshop for all of the students who attended The Tempest trip. During the workshop, we participated in drama games and re-enacted several important parts of the play. It was a really exciting opportunity to work with pupils from Green Lane as we were able to meet new classmates during the drama activities.
Student Review
Overall, I would rate this play as a 9/10 as it was an exceptional performance. Seeing the play performed lived made Shakespeare’s play easier to understand and truly made the characters of The Tempest come to life! I would definitely see another play at The Globe, but be sure to bring a blanket or jacket because it’s cold!
