Punctuality

One of the aims of the Robert Clack School is to prepare children for adult life. To this end we expect everyone to be punctual at all times.

A pupil arriving after 8.45am or 1.20pm is late and receives a late mark in the register. Members of staff are always here ready to receive pupils in the morning and afternoon. We would ask for your co-operation in ensuring that your child leaves home early enough to arrive at school before the bell. Pupils who are late twice or more in one week without good reason will receive a late detention.

Sickness

It is a legal obligation that children of school age attend school regularly. If a pupil is sick, the parent or guardian should telephone the school that morning. He or she should be kept at home until well, and a note of explanation sent to the Form Tutor on the day of return to school. If no telephone call has been received by 9.30 on the first day of absence, the school’s Attendance Officer will make contact to confirm the reasons for absence. If a child falls ill in school parents will be contacted to arrange for their child to be collected and taken home. In the event of an accident requiring urgent medical attention an ambulance will be called and parents informed.

Policy on holidays during term time

The year the Governing Body of Robert Clack School decided to adopt a position of not authorising holidays during term time, in line with Local Authority guidance.

You may request leave of absence in exceptional circumstances or on compassionate grounds but we are not obliged to grant it. Should you wish to request leave of absence please email pupilabsence@robertclack.co.uk outlining the reason for your request. This letter should be sent to the Attendance Office on the site of the school at which your child is based. Please be aware that if a request is refused and your child still incurs unauthorised absences, the Local Authority may issue a Penalty Notice against you. If a Penalty Notice is issued and you wish to appeal on the grounds that it was issued wrongly or unfairly, then the appeal will be considered by the Governing Body.
