Our Curriculum

We are committed to enriching our children’s lives through teaching and delivering a broad and balanced curriculum.

Early Years Foundation Stage

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum sets standards for the learning, development, and care of children from birth to 5-years-old. It's the first stage of a child's education. It ends when a child enters Key Stage One (Year 1).

The EYFS Framework not only sets out expected developmental milestones in the seven Areas of Learning and Development but also supports those working with EYFS age children in providing the correct support, provisions and learning environment to best enable children to thrive and develop as well as be happy and healthy!

We use Tapestry, a secure learning journal, to record our students learning and progress. You can find out more about using Tapestry using these guides: -

Year 1 and Year 2

In Year 1 students follow the National Curriculum and each half term lessons are focussed around a theme and a value. Our lessons include English, Phonics, Maths, Science, Humanities, Art and Design, Computing, PE, RE, Music, PSHE and Sustainability. Each term our lessons encompass British Values and take into account special events and festivals that are taking place.

To promote literacy we use both the PM Library and the Oxford Owl Reading Tree books which are phonetically decodable books matched to the pupil's phonic ability. Pupils take home two reading books and 1 library sharing book.
