Year 10 Overview

Pupils studying Health, Social Care and Early Years follow a two-year GCSE double award course.  Health and Social Care consists of four units of study that cover a wide range of topics.  Students will sit a full GCSE examination in year 10, worth 20% of their final double award grade.  This is on unit one, understanding personal development and relationships.  Also during year 10, students complete a controlled assessment which is worth 30% of their final grade.  During year 11 students will do one more controlled assessment and one more exam, and they will then be awarded 2 grades in Health and Social Care.

1 Understanding Personal Development and Relationships – written examination

2 Exploring Health, Social Care and Early Years Provision – controlled assessment
