BTEC Nationals provide specialist, work-related learning across a range of sectors. Delivering the knowledge, skills and understanding students need to prepare for their chosen career, BTEC Nationals offer progression to higher or further education or into employment.

On successful completion of a BTEC Level 3 in IT qualification, learners can progress into or within employment and/or continue their study in the same vocational area

Edexcel BTEC level 3 certificate in IT

This BTEC level 3 certificate offers a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of employment within ICT. In order to pass the course students must successfully complete all portfolio-based units. There are no exams on this course. In year 12, pupils study three units: Communication and Employability Skills, Computer Systems and Digital Graphics.

Edexcel BTEC level 3 subsidiary diploma in IT

This six-unit BTEC level 3 subsidiary diploma offers a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of employment within the sector. In order to pass the course students must successfully complete six portfolio-based units, the first three units having been studied in Year 12. There are no exams on this course. In year 13, pupils study three units: Computer Animation, Spreadsheet Modelling and Database Design.
